Procedures Performed
The following Procedures are Performed In the Office:
- Scalings and Root Planing
Also known as a deep cleaning (phase I), scaling and root planing is used to remove
plaque, calculus, and endotoxin. By doing this procedure, you eliminate bleeding, inflammation,
pocket infection and heal periodontal lesions.
- Osseous Surgery
Phase II treatment- an extremely precise
demanding technique. In this procedure the gum is cut open, and diseased tissue
(granulation tissue) is removed. Usual quadrant approach procedure takes about one
hour, is painless, and patients return to their normal activities within
hours.
- Osseous Integrated Implants
In this procedure, the bone is prepared surgically
and a titanium screw (implant) is placed replacing the host root structure. This prepares the site for a single tooth or fixed bridge.
- Grafts (Both Connective Gingival Grafts & Free Grafts)
These grafts are used
to create more areas of attached gingiva. A plastic surgery procedure to improve esthetics.
- Frenectomy
Complete removal of the frenum, including attachment to underlying bone.
This procedure creates a zone of attached gingiva between the gingival margin and the frenum.
- Biopsy
A biopsy is used to identify and clarify any troublesome area(s) and diagnose pathology.
- Bone Augmentation
This procedure occupies a space and helps
regenerate bone previously lost by disease or accident.
- Crown Lengthening
Increases the size of the clinical crown in order to develop
adequate crown retentive requirements.
- Distal Wedges
A type of incision to reduce pocket depth in areas of difficult access.
- Guided Tissue Regeneration (Membrane)
Saves important abutment teeth by stimulating bone growth.
- Recall Maintenance
Also known as regular periodontal maintenance cleanings, usually
recommended every 3 to 4 months varying with each case. Helps prevent
periodontal disease from returning. Implemented after periodontal Phase I and Phase II
treatment is completed.
- Full Mouth X-rays
Are requested or taken prior to any periodontal procedure.
- Panoramic X-rays
Available with osseous integrated implant program in our office.
THE MOST STRICT STERILIZATION TECHNIQUES ARE UTILIZED IN OUR OFFICE
WITH REGULAR MONITORING TESTING FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA.
